Join your friends and neighbors at the park for our summer concerts! Sponsored by the City of Eugene Art in the Parks program and the WCC, we are excited to present five Thursday evening concerts and an Ice Cream Social & Family Fun day in the park with games, prizes, and live music. Bring a chair or a blanket, perhaps a picnic or make a purchase from one of the many restaurants and food carts nearby, and enjoy the vibrant Whiteaker neighborhood. Mark your calendar and join us!
July 17th 6:30 - 8:30pm Brian QTN and Amy Danziger
Brian has opened our music series by long tradition, and he will help us kick off 2025 with flair! Brian QTN, Oregon songpoet and wordsmith musician, writes songs with offbeat and touching lyrical observations on the socialography of the human condition. July 24th 7 - 9pm Blessed Relief Jazz
A trio consisting of guitar, bass, and drums, Blessed Relief Jazz is based in Eugene. They relish in the grooves and changes that bring tensions to resolution. Their repertoire dives into the Great American Songbook, performing swing, pop standards, bebop, blues, fusion, and a little bit of Frank Zappa.

July 31st 7 - 9pm Dharmika Album release celebration!
Dharmika has been performing catchy, insightful music for children and adults alike for over twenty-five years, inspiring audiences on west coast folk festival and venue stages from Kulak’s Woodshed in Los Angeles, to the Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle.

August 7th 7 - 9pm Samba Ja
Samba Ja is a 15+ member percussion ensemble specializing in samba-reggae. They bring the infectious, funky and incredibly danceable street music from Salvador, Bahia in Brazil to the streets of Eugene Oregon.
August 14th 7 - 9pm Boxcar Figaro
Boxcar Figaro plays lyrically rich and melodically compelling original, authentic, Americana songs and unique versions of cover tunes.
Boxcar Figaro is the musical project of songwriter Victor DesRoches, most often accompanied by lead guitar and percussion. With more than three hours of original songs, and a repertoire of covers that range from the 1930s to today, the band has enough variety to keep audiences engaged and entertained.
August 23rd 12 - 5pm WCC Ice Cream Social and Family Fun Day
Bring your friends and enjoy your neighbors at Scobert Gardens Park! Yard games for all ages will be set up, we will have bubbles, stickers and other prizes for the kids. Free ice cream and popcorn for all!
Skip Jones Spirit of New Orleans from 1 - 2:30pm. Bringing the soulful, high-energy boogified sounds of New Orleans to the Pacific Northwest, Skip Jones & The Spirit of New Orleans deliver a dynamic blend of rhythm and blues hits from the ’50s and ’60s, along with classic rock and pop organ favorites from the ’60s and ’70s. Add in some authentic New Orleans piano boogie-woogie, and the party follows wherever they play!

WCC General Meeting
Giveaways, pizza, games and more!
We hope you’ll plan to join us on November 13th at Eugene Mission for our last General Meeting of the year. The address is 1536 W. 1st Avenue.
A tour of Eugene Mission will start at 6:00PM with a Q&A with the Mission team after the tour. (Please arrive by 5:50PM.)
Our General Meeting will begin at 7:00PM. We will have refreshments, pizza and bingo! We will be giving away gift cards from local businesses and taking time to meet our neighbors and get to know them with a fun bingo game!
We will officially be launching our WiFi hubs with special guests from Emerald Broadband. We will be explaining how to log on to the WiFi hubs when they’re activated in the event of an outage.
We will also have Sacred Connections there to talk about The Great Whiteaker Cleanup and tell us about what they’re doing in the community.

AARP + WCC Disaster Resiliency Event
WCC is a 2024 #AARP CommunityChallenge grantee, a quick-action project funded by @AARPLivableCommunities and @AARPOregon. With this grant we will be expanding digital connectivity during emergencies by distributing back up cell phone chargers and increasing internet locations where community members can get the info they need to respond to disasters. You can learn more about the AARP Community Challenge grant program at www.aarp.org/CommunityChallenge.

WCC's 50th Anniversary Celebration
The Whiteaker Community Council has been serving the neighborhood for 50 years, and that's a great reason to throw a party!
There will be fun and activities in the park all day for kids and adults alike. Play games, win prizes, eat ice cream! Enjoy two bands, learn about the history of the WCC, and meet your Community Council members.
We'll kick it off with Rob Tobias and Maya Love performing a Beatles tribute from 12:00 - 2:00
Free face painting and balloon animals by 541 Celebrations
Free ice cream by King Whippy from 12:30 - 4:30
Speakers include Senator James Manning, former Mayor of Eugene Kitty Piercy, long time chair of the WCC Sam Hahn, and more.
Round the evening out with more music from Eugene favorite Peter Wilde and friends from 5:00 - 7:00.

Come enjoy Chico's unique blend of talents. He is a singer-songwriter who puts depth and feeling into his songs. He always has interesting social commentary to go with his music, and best of all, the range of instruments he can play with great skill is truly amazing.
