Healthy Homes Program

In 2021 Oregon Legislature created groundbreaking legislation to achieve healthy home standards for low income households having below 80% AMI, and communities impacted by environmental justice factors.

HB 22842 provides grants through Oregon Health Authority to repair and rehabilitate dwellings to address climate and environmental hazards, ensure accessible homes for disabled residents and make repairs to ensure safe and healthy homes.

Given that the Whiteaker has some of the oldest homes in Eugene (most built before 1945!) we are a perfect fit for this endeavor.

WCC will be awarded $750,000 to actualize this complex program, occurring over a 36 month grant biennium. It will enable us to:

  • Repair 80 aging homes.

  • Give Whit based contractors and workers employment

  • Increase WCC Staff & capacity

  • Expand WCC Board training

  • Provide administrative funds for WCC legal, tax and bookkeeping professionals

  • Provide partial rent funds for a WCC office space

The program will run through 2027, as funds remain available.
